The Regulatory Review Process in Pennsylvania

Tips for Commenting on State & Federal Regulations

The Pennsylvania Bulletin (state) and the Federal Register (federal) are where all government agencies must post newly-proposed regulations and changes to existing regulations.  Each proposed regulation will have a date that comments must be submitted by and an address to submit comments.  This is your opportunity to be heard.  It is always important when submitting comments to be as specific as possible:

  1. Always try to note the section in the proposal that you are referring to;
  2. Whenever possible, try to identify how the proposal might impact your company;
  3. Include recommended language changes where appropriate; and
  4. It is always acceptable to send a letter immediately asking the agency to extend  the comment deadline if you feel the proposal is too complex to digest within the official comment period.
