PA Chamber members to spotlight on international trade
Upcoming Capitol rally to showcase products, tout economic benefits
Pennsylvania businesses that are involved in international trade will have their products on display at the State Capitol on Tuesday, Oct. 13 as part of an international trade rally organized by TradeRoots PA. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The rally is designed to demonstrate the success of international trade to Pennsylvania's economy, and to educate elected officials and the general public about the importance of international trade in all aspects of the economy.
TradeRoots PA is a non-political, bipartisan, multi-year private sector partnership led by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, key local chambers, and businesses across Pennsylvania. This unique, unified group of the state's international trade community sends a powerful message that Pennsylvania is open for business.
In fact, Pennsylvania exported more than $34 billion in manufactured and agricultural products in 2008 alone, supporting more than 700,000 jobs in the state. That means real money for average Pennsylvanian families, workers and farmers.
TradeRoots PA was launched earlier this year, with a road show across the state – from Philadelphia, to York, to Pittsburgh, and finally Erie – to meet with business leaders, host trade rallies and educational events, and tour factories, all focusing on creating jobs in Pennsylvania.
