Green Initiative highlights PA Chamber members' commitment to environment
Now featured: Boeing's focus on sustainable solutions
When PA Chamber Board Member and PRL Inc. President Janis Herschkowitz recently testified before the House Republican Policy Committee on Pennsylvania’s business regulatory climate, she reminded lawmakers that most businesses are good corporate citizens, that, like her company, strive to stay competitive and profitable while respecting environmental standards.
Other PA Chamber members agree with Herschkowitz’s sentiment. When it comes to the environment, businesses large and small are voluntarily making strides to reduce their environmental footprint by embracing sustainability best practices.
In order to highlight the positive steps its member companies are taking to be good stewards of the environment, the PA Chamber unveiled its Green Initiative last year. The Company Spotlight section of the Green Initiative website features information on how specific companies in the state our “going green.”
The most recent spotlight details the sustainable solutions being sought at The Boeing Company’s Ridley Township facility. The location serves as the company’s Mobility division hub and manufactures military helicopters, expressly the CH-47F Chinook, the MH-47G Special Operations Chinook, and the MV- and CV-22 Osprey.
Boeing’s employees are dedicated to serving the environment with a directive to recycle or repurpose all of the company’s materials – a directive that Bob Cassidy, director of Boeing’s Environmental Health and Safety, and Manufacturing and Production Engineering teams, called “Zero Waste to Landfill”. You can read more about this and Boeing’s other sustainability solutions here.
And don’t forget to check out the additional company spotlights in order to learn more about the business community’s voluntary efforts to have a positive impact on the environment.
The PA Chamber’s Green Initiative promotes responsible growth of the green industry through commonsense policies, a free market approach to alternative energy and emerging technologies, and the collaboration of businesses to share the best practices and ideas to help Pennsylvania employers compete effectively in the 21st century.
