PA Chamber welcomes George W. Bush at Annual Dinner
1,800 business leaders, legislators hear stirring, insightful message
A record crowd of more than 1,800 business leaders, elected officials and special guests were on hand at the 27th Annual Chamber Dinner to hear from the evening’s keynote speaker, President George W. Bush.
The event was held Monday, Sept. 26 at Hershey Lodge.
The former president spoke for 30 minutes before sitting down with PA Chamber Vice President Gene Barr for a nearly 40-minute question/answer session that covered topics ranging from foreign and domestic policy and reflections on his time in the White House to lighter subjects such as his prediction about the teams that will play in this year’s World Series (Rangers vs. Phillies?).
Attendees also had the chance to hear from Gov. Tom Corbett, who addressed the audience at the start of the dinner program. Other guests of note included Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley, Senate President Pro Tempore Joseph Scarnati, Speaker of the House Sam Smith, numerous members of the governor’s Cabinet and other state and federal elected officials.
ABC27 News Anchor Dennis Owens emceed the dinner for the fourth consecutive year.
Wells Fargo served as exclusive Diamond Sponsor, with Highmark and Sunoco serving as Platinum sponsors. The dinner was also supported by seven Gold sponsors: Chief Oil and Gas; Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania; Comcast; Covanta Energy; Kellogg’s; Penn Waste and UPS; and countless Silver, Bronze and other sponsors, which are listed here.
