HARRISBURG - PA Chamber President and CEO Gene Barr issued the following statement regarding the COVID-19 economic recovery plan that was released today by U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-PA:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has thrust the Commonwealth – and our country as a whole – into uncharted territory as elected officials at the federal, state and local levels work to strike a delicate balance between protecting the public health and preventing a complete economic shutdown. We appreciate the Wolf administration’s efforts to safeguard the health and safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth; as well as businesses and residents statewide who have made countless sacrifices in order to adhere to the requirements of the governor’s stay-at-home orders. Thanks to these collective efforts, Pennsylvania appears to be turning a corner, as a reduction in new cases has led to a ‘flattening of the curve.’
“Now it’s time to turn our focus on ‘Bringing PA Back.’ Senator Pat Toomey has put forth a good, reasonable plan to assist in that recovery. We strongly encourage the Wolf administration, Senator Toomey and the state Legislature to bring together their collective ideas to begin this economic recovery. Working together, Pennsylvania will come through this unprecedented situation stronger than before.”
