HARRISBURG - ChamberPAC, the political arm of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, today announced its endorsement of Republican Timothy DeFoor for state Auditor General in the upcoming General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
“The Office of Auditor General plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and appropriate use of tax dollars,” said PA Chamber President and CEO Gene Barr. “Tim DeFoor has dedicated his career to fighting government waste, fraud and abuse. That experience, combined with his years as a professional auditor, make him uniquely qualified and the best candidate for the job.”
DeFoor has more than 25 years of law enforcement and accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. His government experience includes investigative roles within the state Office of Inspector General, as well as the Office of Attorney General – where he was charged with investigating fraud, waste and abuse. During his tenure as Dauphin County Controller, his work led to the saving and recovering of more than $1 million in taxpayer dollars. He also worked to increase government transparency and accountability by creating the county’s first Audit Division, preparing the first Dauphin County Retirement Fund Report and changing how the county reported its finances. As a result of his efforts and leadership, the county was awarded the Government Finance Officers Association award for financial reporting.
“Tim has a proven track record of fighting for government accountability and transparency,” Barr added. “On behalf of ChamberPAC and the state’s broad-based business community, I encourage all Pennsylvanians to vote Timothy DeFoor for Auditor General in the upcoming election.”
