PA Chamber Honors Republican and Democratic Leaders at PA Society Breakfast

Last Friday, the PA Chamber hosted its annual “Bipartisan House and Senate Leaders Breakfast” during PA Society Weekend in New York City. Each year, this breakfast serves as the unofficial kickoff to PA Society—a weekend where Pennsylvania’s government, business and civic leaders gather to celebrate Pennsylvania, highlight what unites us, and showcase the opportunities ahead in the new year.

In his welcoming remarks to hundreds of attendees, PA Chamber President and CEO Luke Bernstein thanked lawmakers and leaders from all four caucuses for their commitment to collaboration and progress for Pennsylvania’s business community in 2025. Their efforts have made the Commonwealth more competitive and removed barriers to growth through initiatives such as:

  • Transformative permitting reforms that build on last year’s progress and send a clear message: Pennsylvania is open for business.
  • Tax climate improvements, including continuing the reduction of the Corporate Net Income tax and increasing the cap on net operating loss deductions.
  • Regulatory clarity for investors with the long-awaited decision to exit the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
  • Workforce investments to ensure current and future generations have the skills and education needed to succeed.

“Thanks to the leadership, vision, and collaboration of the people in this room, Pennsylvania is competing again—and what’s more, we are winning again,” Bernstein said. He noted that Site Selection Magazine recently ranked Pennsylvania as the 11th best business climate in the nation, and Moody’s Analytics reported that Pennsylvania is the only state in the Northeast with a growing economy.

Following Bernstein’s remarks, Dave Burritt, President and CEO of Presenting Sponsor United States Steel Corporation, delivered additional welcoming comments.

The program continued with greetings and reflections from the leaders of all four caucuses: Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward, House Speaker Joanna McClinton, Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa, and House Republican Leader Jesse Topper.

Their remarks highlighted the bipartisan efforts that have made Pennsylvania a stronger place to invest and grow a business. After the official program, the remainder of PA Society Weekend festivities got underway.
