Keystone Space Collaborative (KSC), Pennsylvania’s nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the state’s space economy, has been named a finalist for the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s 2026 Tech50 Awards. “Pennsylvania has the talent, technology, and manufacturing expertise to play a leading role in the future of the space industry,” said Justine Kasznica, KSC founder and board chair. Kasznica said the recognition highlights the organization’s work connecting businesses and positioning the state for growth in the national space economy. Founded in 2021, KSC connects businesses, universities, government agencies and economic development organizations through industry partnerships, workforce development, and its annual Keystone Space Conference. This year, KSC’s membership grew by more than 120 percent; and, it announced a strategic affiliation with the PA Chamber to further enhance and grow its mission to make Pennsylvania the leading state for aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, research, technology innovation, and commercial space development. Pennsylvania’s space industry spans hundreds of employers and organizations. KSC’s Space Ecosystem Explorer identified 558 participants statewide as of 2025, including more than 165 involved directly in space research and development, space systems and spacecraft development. Another 393 support the industry through fields such as software design, advanced manufacturing and machining. KSC is also expanding its Space Ecosystem Map to help companies identify suppliers, partners and new business opportunities across Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. The organization also aims to connect Pennsylvania businesses to national priorities, including NASA’s Artemis campaign, while supporting innovation, advanced manufacturing, and high-skilled jobs. The Tech50 Awards recognize technology companies and leaders across Southwestern Pennsylvania. Finalists will be recognized at the Nov. 19 event at The Event Center at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.
