FEATURED SPEAKERS

Bruce Childers is the Dean of the School of Computing and Information (SCI). He previously served as Interim Dean, Senior Associate Dean of SCI, Special Assistant to the Provost for Data Science, and Chair of the Department of Information Culture and Data Stewardship. He is a Professor of Computer Science. Previously acting as Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives, Childers led faculty recruitment and development for SCI. He has also been the Co-director of the Graduate Computer Engineering program and the Director of Graduate Studies for Computer Science. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a PhD (CS, 2000) and the College of William and Mary with a BS (CS, 1991). 

Childers’ recent research focuses on novel technologies and cultural change to advance transparency, reuse and reproducibility of data science for accelerated discovery and trustworthy insight. With colleagues, these scholarly contributions are disseminated through innovations embodied in open source software, including the Occam system. His research also addresses the software-hardware boundary for improved energy, performance, reliability, and robustness, with an emphasis on embedded systems, including the Internet-of-Things.

Reuben Daniel leads transformative AI initiatives that drive measurable impact across healthcare and enterprise operations. As AVP of AI, Daniel specializes in aligning cutting-edge technologies with strategic business goals—enhancing efficiency, elevating customer experiences, and unlocking new opportunities for innovation.

With a deep understanding of AI systems and their real-world applications, Daniel collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and deploy solutions that are not only technically sound but also business-critical. His approach blends technical rigor with strategic foresight, ensuring that every AI initiative delivers tangible value and competitive advantage.

Recent efforts include spearheading AI community working sessions, contributing to thought leadership through podcast recordings, and partnering with stakeholders across departments to scale AI adoption. Daniel thrives in dynamic environments where curiosity, collaboration, and impact converge.

Chad Firestone serves as Deloitte’s Pennsylvania Account Leader focused on State, Local and Higher Education sectors. He has spent the last 30 years working in, with or for the Commonwealth in various leadership roles.

Prior to Deloitte, he served as Executive Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Commonwealth and Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) before transitioning to the private sector. Chad has led strategic initiatives and transformations across core business operations, technology, human resources and procurement and holds a special affinity for public safety.

Chad earned a BA in Criminology from IUP and an MPA from Penn State. He lives is southcentral PA with his wife of 30 years, two daughters and one very special granddaughter.

Gabe Grab is Deloitte’s Analytics & AI leader for State Government bringing more than 17 year’s experience leading mission-focused solutions for government organizations. Gabe and his team work across the nation helping organizations to improve program outcomes, enhance workload efficiency, and increase transparency using data and AI.

He brings deep expertise across multiple technology capabilities including integration, data modernization, visualization, machine learning, Generative AI, and more. He pairs this expertise with deep business knowledge in in Human Services, Health, Labor, and Transportation programs to implement solutions focused on improving service outcomes and enabling insight driven decision making.

Gabe is a regular speaker at national conferences, has testified on AI for house and senate government leaders, and frequently publishes industry-leading points of view. Additionally, he leads Research and Innovation as part of Deloitte’s Generative AI practice helping to explore emerging AI technologies, create prototypes, and advise government and industry leaders on Artificial Intelligence.

Felicia King is Director of Economic Development for FirstEnergy. King joined the company in September 2024 and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the Economic Development team whose goal is to support the realization of our communities’ economic visions through the attraction and retention of businesses, job creation and increased capital investment in our service territory. 

King comes to FirstEnergy from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) in Virginia, the second largest distribution cooperative in the United States. She served as the organization’s Director of Economic Development and oversaw both business attraction and business retention, as well as the company’s expansion efforts for all commercial, industrial and government accounts.

Prior to her time at REC, King worked as a local economic developer for Henrico County, Va. She began her career over 20 years ago working with small, family-owned Main Street businesses.

King earned a Bachelor of Arts in international law and diplomacy from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from Old Dominion University.

Jamia McDonald leads Deloitte’s State, Local and Higher Education (SLHE) Health and Human Services market. Her team supports HHS leaders around the country with service delivery and technology transformation. She also serves as one of Deloitte’s SLHE Artificial Intelligence practice leaders, paving the way throughout state and local governments and higher education institutions to embrace new and evolving technologies to best serve our citizens and communities.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Jamia spent 20 years in executive government leadership roles. Her career has focused on driving change to improve programmatic outcomes, identifying efficiencies, and optimizing financial resources to achieve objectives. Jamia is a regular speaker at national conferences, and frequently publishes industry-leading points of view. She is a regular guest lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab.

She earned a business degree from Western Illinois University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago. She lives in southcentral PA with her husband of 20 years, her 16-year-old son, and their rescue German Shepard.

Dave Meyer is a Google trainer with over 25 years of marketing experience. He currently delivers AI workshops for small businesses across Pennsylvania as part of the Google AI Works Accelerator. Apart from the Accelerator, Dave has presented digital marketing topics to thousands of people across the U.S. and Canada. His presentations include more than 400 webinars on topics including Inbound marketing, CRM, SEO, advertising, content marketing, and sales strategy. Dave was named 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, and has been recognized by organizations including HubSpot, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) and many others as a thought leader in marketing and communications.

Dave’s company, BizzyWeb, helps hundreds of clients with a range of services including Inbound Marketing, Web Design, Fractional-Tactical support, CRM & Sales Automation!

Sen. Greg Rothman was elected to the State Senate in November 2022 to represent the people of the 34th Senate District, which includes Cumberland and Perry counties and northern Dauphin County. He previously represented the 87th Legislative District in the House of Representatives. 

Rothman chairs the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee, which helps manage and protect the commonwealth’s natural resources and considers legislation affecting hunting, fishing and conservation. He is also a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Banking and Insurance, Education, Finance, Rules and Executive Nominations, and Transportation committees.

He is the former president and CEO of RSR REALTORS, where he began as a real estate sales agent in 1989. Under his leadership, the company grew to become one of the largest real estate businesses in Central Pennsylvania. 

Prior to his public service, Rothman enlisted in the Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm. He served nearly 10 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, rising to the rank of staff sergeant before being honorably discharged in 2001. His service led the president of the United States to appoint him to the National Veterans Business Development Corporation board to encourage veterans to start entrepreneurial ventures. 

Rothman is a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School and holds an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and a Master of Science degree in real estate from Johns Hopkins University. 

He previously served as a trustee at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and as a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg. He was one of the five founders of the Harrisburg Young Professionals. 

Rothman is the proud father of five children.
