PA Chamber, Ohio Chamber Presidents Place Friendly Wager Ahead of Big 10 Football Face-Off

The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes will meet in Columbus this Saturday, October 21 for a massive Big 10 showdown, and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the Ohio Chamber of Commerce are getting in on the fun.

Whichever team emerges victorious stands to win their respective state chamber both bragging rights and a package of products with items made in the losing team’s state. If the Buckeyes win, PA Chamber President and CEO Luke Bernstein would treat Ohio Chamber President and CEO Steve Stivers to Yuengling beer, Hershey’s chocolate, Utz potato chips, Seltzer’s Lebanon bologna, Penn State Creamery ice cream, and Eat N’Park smiley cookies. If Penn State wins, Stivers will send Bernstein Anthony-Thomas Buckeye chocolates, Watershed Distillery spirits, Tide laundry detergent, Scott’s Miracle-Gro grass seed, Brillo steel wool pads, Kroger grocery brand items, and a Wendy’s gift card.

“The Buckeyes might have homefield advantage going into this contest, but that’s where their luck will run out this weekend,” Bernstein said. “From Penn State’s lights-out pass defense to its stonewall offensive line, Ohio State will have a rough afternoon trying to pick up any yardage. Meanwhile, Penn State knows they’re slight underdogs heading into Saturday … and they love it. That underdog mentality will serve us well, both in rooting for a Penn State victory and in getting ready for the treats and other items the Ohio Chamber will send our way after the Lions bring home the W!”

“As a lifelong Ohioan and a graduate of The Ohio State University, I’m really looking forward to seeing the Buckeyes beat Penn State this weekend. The Pennsylvania Chamber’s willingness to participate in this friendly bet despite the odds makes it even more exciting,” said Ohio Chamber President & CEO Steve Stivers. “All joking aside, with two undefeated teams, this should be a great game. Go Bucks!”

Saturday’s game will be played at Ohio Stadium in Columbus starting at 12:00 p.m. The No. 7 rated Nittany Lions are trying to take down the No. 3 rated Buckeyes for the first time in Ohio Stadium since 2011.
