Shapiro said in a statement from his campaign, that, as currently written, he questions whether the regulation strikes an appropriate balance between the economy and environmental policy. However, Shapiro has not said publicly how he would act in his official capacity as attorney general, which must sign off on form and legality of final regulations. Wolf has said he expects his plan to take effect next year, although it faces stiff opposition from the Republican-controlled legislature.
