Wolf Renews Opioid Disaster Declaration

Governor Wolf signed his 15th renewal of a 2018 disaster declaration on opioid abuse last week.  A recent change to the Pennsylvania Constitution, approved by voters earlier this year, limits the duration of executive disaster declarations to 21 days instead of 90 and requires the governor to seek legislative approval for further extensions.

Conor Lamb Announces U.S. Senate Run

At an IBEW Union Hall in South Pittsburgh, U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb (D) officially announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate in a challenge to Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and others for the seat currently held by Sen. Pat Toomey.  Toomey, a Republican, announced last October that he would not seek reelection to the Senate.

Speaker Cutler Announces Special Election to fill Delaware County Seat

PA State House Speaker Bryan Cutler announced on Monday that the Delaware county seat vacated by former Rep. Margo Davidson would be filled via a Special Election on November 2 to coincide with the municipal general election.  Davidson resigned last month after being accused of stealing from taxpayers by filing thousands of dollars of fraudulent reimbursement requests with the General Assembly.
