PA Chamber in the News

The PA Chamber was featured in multiple news outlets discussing a variety of legislative issues over the past several weeks.

An opinion column by PA Chamber President Gene Barr highlighting the need for pro-growth policies to aid in Pennsylvania’s post-pandemic economic recovery was published in the  Delaware County Daily Times

“Through our ‘Bringing PA Back’ initiative, the PA Chamber – along with our local chamber and industry partners – has developed a pro-growth, forward-thinking agenda that will help employers who are struggling to recover from the pandemic; while also encouraging additional investment and attracting emerging and expanding industries to the Commonwealth,” Barr wrote.  “This strategic approach focuses on improving the state’s competitiveness, infrastructure and workforce in order to bring about equality of opportunity for every Pennsylvanian and aid in the state’s economic resurgence.  Commonsense reforms – such as targeted COVID liability protections; streamlining and simplifying the state’s tax code; reducing regulatory burdens; and creating greater government efficiency and connectivity – are all central to this vision of building a stronger, more inclusive economy.”

Barr was also quoted in a Bucks County Courier Times article about the House’s passage of COVID-19 liability protections for businesses and other organizations.

“These liability protections are targeted, narrow in scope and temporary, which Pennsylvania businesses desperately need as they struggle to overcome the economic challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on them,” Barr said.

This article was published in multiple other outlets across the state.

PA Chamber Vice President of Government Affairs Sam Denisco was quoted in a Delaware Valley Journal article regarding proposed tax hikes on the state and federal level.   Denisco noted that if Gov. Wolf’s proposed Personal Income Tax increase and President Biden’s $3 trillion tax increase on corporations and individuals were to take effect, they would significantly impact the Commonwealth’s overall competitiveness, stating, “We would probably have one of the highest tax rates in the world.”
