SERVPRO: Making Things Right for Customers, Communities Across Pennsylvania

Summer 2017 Catalyst

SERVPRO is the leading provider of fire and water damage restoration in the United States and Canada. Headquartered in Gallatin, Tennessee, SERVPRO has more than 1,700 franchises nationwide, with professionals available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year who are ready to restore your property quickly and efficiently. Their goal is always to make it seem as though any customer’s emergency never even happened.

The company specializes in residential and commercial water, fire and mold damage restoration. Specialty services include: biohazard cleanup, document and electronics restoration, carpet cleaning and reconstruction. The SERVPRO system also has a network of strategically positioned storm teams on standby, should a disaster strike near you.

As the nature of their work is emergency-based, SERVPRO has designed a tool for property managers and owners to help prepare for any unexpected situation. An Emergency Ready Profile aims to help minimize business interruption by having an immediate plan of action in place. They impress upon customers that knowing what to do and how to respond in advance of an emergency is key to timely mitigation, and can help reduce the effects of water and fire damage to their home or business.

Over the past year, the SERVPRO team in Pennsylvania has been working on building a culture of unity by focusing on operating as one brand. Mike McGrory, co-owner of SERVPRO of Upper Bucks, states “We have a great group of colleagues in Pennsylvania who enable us to provide limitless resources to handle building emergencies of any size.” SERVPRO owners across the state are also focused on creating an atmosphere that promotes volunteerism, as they share a passion for building their communities by offering support to first responders, as well as many non-profits such as The Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.

The company’s local franchise owners are also education advocates. All employees are required to partake in SERVPRO’s Employee Certification Training Program, as well as take industry-specific courses to continue their learning in the field. Many SERVPRO workers are also specialized in biohazard cleanup, and are trained by the American Bio Recovery Association. Additional training for employees is always encouraged and paid for by the company.

In 2016, McGrory and his co-owner counterpart, Sean McCabe, decided to take their corporate education efforts one step further by completing additional training and education courses through OSHA, the American Red cross and the ALiCE Active Shooter Response program. McGrory is now an OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour General Industry Instructor, providing much-needed training to employees in service industries such as restoration, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, medical and dental. He is also an American Red Cross Certified Instructor for First Aid, CPR and AED training. McGrory and McCabe have also both completed the prestigious ALiCE Active Shooter Instructor training, which when combined with the SERVPRO Emergency Ready Profile, will provide local schools, businesses and health care facilities with an integrated response program to protect their employees and properties in the event of an emergency situation. As the company’s educational and community initiatives continue to expand, the SERVPRO team remains dedicated to excelling in emergency service response across the state of Pennsylvania.
