PA Chamber Signs on to “Build by the Fourth” Initiative

The PA Chamber joined more than 300 organizations nationwide last week in signing on to a U.S. Chamber-led letter with the Bipartisan Policy Council, which calls on Congressional lawmakers to enact a comprehensive, bipartisan infrastructure funding package before July 4, 2021.

The coalition cited numerous reasons for why infrastructure funding is vital to America’s economic growth. “Our nation must launch a massive investment program in transportation, energy, water and communications technologies,” they wrote. “Doing so … will propel public and private efforts to decarbonize our economy in a meaningful way, address infrastructure challenges with both manmade and natural solutions, and close the digital divide by expanding broadband and internet access. This effort also provides an opportunity to ensure the benefits and jobs from infrastructure investments are shared with communities that have borne disproportionate burdens.”

Per its official transportation and infrastructure policy, the PA Chamber believes that funding and maintaining a modern, efficient and safe transportation system is a core function of government, and vital to sustain a healthy and growing state and national economy. Our organization supports policies that will foster both the growth and maintenance of transportation systems in order to continue to support and sustain our economy and quality of life. The “Build by the 4th” initiative aims to achieve these objectives through a durable commitment and clear strategy.
