City & State Pennsylvania featured Pennsylvania’s leadership in the AI sector last week, with a heavy focus on how the PA Chamber is driving the conversation on AI investment. In the article, PA Chamber President & CEO Luke Bernstein explains why businesses are adopting AI and how Pennsylvania is positioned to lead, underscoring the Commonwealth’s momentum and the PA Chamber’s focus on responsible innovation to drive competitiveness in this future-focused sector.

“The promise for Pennsylvania is significant. It’s greater for Pennsylvania, in my opinion, than any other state because of our resources,” Bernstein told City & State. He added that Pennsylvania is “really well-situated” to lead in the AI space, thanks to several unique factors, including our robust energy resources and workforce.

“We can’t have innovation in AI without significant energy – and what does Pennsylvania have? We have significant energy. You need significant resources on energy, as well as water, to fuel the innovation wave – and we have that,” Bernstein said. “We also have world-class academic institutions, so we have the brain power here that can drive the innovation.”

Bernstein also noted that large and small businesses are beginning to incorporate AI into their work.

“People are understanding that they really need to, No. 1, understand its capability and (No.) 2, embrace it.”

The PA Chamber is working to help employers leverage emerging technologies, through initiatives such as our Energy & Innovation Institute and the Keystone Initiative, and event programming like our annual AI Summit and partnership with Google on the Pennsylvania AI Accelerator for small businesses.
